Common Allergies
Allergic people suffer from different kinds of allergies which will be discussed further in these sections. I will cite brief definitions of the most common allergy just to give you a brief background and idea on the topic.
Indoor Allergy – this is an allergy commonly found indoor which is inhaled through the nasal and lungs creating allergic reactions.
Examples of indoor allergy producing substance:

Ways in preventing indoor allergy are:
- • clean carpet regularly
- • throw old pillows, beds and rags
- • avoid certain pets like cats or dogs
- • vacuum frequently
Outdoor allergy – or season allergy is an allergy cause by the changing weathers, mould, tress, grass and weed pollens.
Ways in preventing outdoor allergy are:
- • avoid staying indoor during 10 am to 4 pm
- • stay inside when it is too humid outside
- • close your car windows while driving to avoid the pollens
- • take a bath immediately if you have been spending some time outdoors
Outdoor allergy is usually seasonal and can be cured by over the counter medications and doctor’s prescriptions.
Skin Allergy – about 7% of allergy people suffer from this kind of allergy.
Common types of skin allergy:
- • atopic dermatitis
- • eczema
- • hives
- • contact allergies
The most common causes of skin allergies are oak tree, poison ivy and other allergen producing plants. Food can also trigger allergens as well as some products that used latex. One way of preventing these allergens is through medications and topical creams. You can also stay away from allergen producing substance.
Food Allergy – this is the last type of allergy and is common in children. However, most children outgrow their allergy. There are eight allergen producing foods which are:
- • eggs
- • tree nuts
- • peanuts
- • wheat
- • soy
- • shellfish
- • milk
- • seafood
The most common drug allergy is penicillin. One way of preventing food allergy is by watching your diet and making sure you do not eat the allergen causing food. You can also ask your doctor about prescription and medication.
